Mumbai FYJC Online 11th Admission Process 2017-18


Last year the fyjc online admission to junior colleges had much errors like merit lists had the name of wrong toppers, students got seats in colleges far away from their homes and some students did not get a seat at all. FYJC Online 11th Admission 2017 process starts June 2, as a student you need to know the following things:

Number of seats available in FYJC Online Admission 2016: 2.78 lakh
(Includes Mumbai region, including Thane, Palghar and Raigad districts)

Mumbai 11th Admission Schedule 2017-18

May 29: FYJC 11th Admission portal - http://mumbai.11thadmission.net open for student Registration

June 15 to July 15: Four rounds of admissions will be held meaning there would be four FYJC 11th Admission Net Merit List 2017, once every week, after the declaration of Maharashtra SSC results 2017. Three additional rounds of 11th admission will be conducted once every two weeks up to September 1 if seats still remain vacant.

11th Admission Mumbai New Changes:
Students who are seeking FYJC admission through quota: You need to purchase FYJC online admission manual from schools. The information manuals are already distributed by schools.
Students must create a unique identification (UID) number by registering on the FYJC 11th online Admission 2017 website  - http://mumbai.11thadmission.net by using the login and password given in the booklet
The UID number will be tracked for admission of students in 11th Standard in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region
A junior college have to enter the UID number on the online database after admitting a student through a quota.

FYJC Online Admission Process 2017-18

FYJC 11th Admission to reserved seats will be held before the allottment of general seats
A ‘zero round’ will be held for online Admissions to the Higher Secondary Vocational Course (HSVC) and quota seats – religious or linguistic minority, in-house and management
The seats will be filled on a first-come-first-served basis if seats remain vacant.

FYJC Admission for General Category Students

A student can apply to only one stream, instead of the previously two
Choice of stream can be changed during admissions
Choice of junior colleges will not be restricted to zone or wards. Students can pick a minimum of one and a maximum of 10 colleges in their region
No provisional admission will be done this year. Students can secure Mumbai 11th admission only once
A student if allotted a seat in his first preference, must pay the fees and secure the seat, as there name will be blocked and will not be allotted seats in next rounds.
Students who are happy with the seat allotted to them can also pay fees and confirm.
Students who did not take admission to 11th Standard in any college can wait for subsequent rounds of admission.
Nobody can guarantee that students will get a better seat in the next round

FYJC 11th Admission 2017 for Students from International Boards

Students who appeared in the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) examinations, equivalent to class 10, will be permitted to secure provisional admissions to first year junior colleges (FYJC) on their predicted scores. There is still doubt if the seat would be cancelled later or not if student has got a lower score than the predicted one.

11th Online Admission Mumbai 2017 Reservation for Girls

Around 30% seats in fyjc online admission 2017 will be reserved for girl students from poor backgrounds. Seats available in the form of ‘compartmentalised reservation’ in the already existing quota of 50% for socially weaker sections followed in non-minority colleges, though not mandatory for minority colleges.

Things to Remember while filling in 11th Online Application Form

Various subjects offered by colleges can be seen next to its name to help students in choosing one. It includes bifocal and vocational courses and number of seats for them.

Shorter college codes: College codes, have been shortened in the 11th online application form, so students must write them correctly. Colleges in Mumbai, start with the college code-MUM. In this way, students could not choose wrong colleges by coincidence or those colleges that are too far from their homes.

FYJC Online Admission Last Year
June 20, 2016: FYJC 11th Admission General merit list ranked wrong applicants. Five toppers in the list, who scored perfect 100s in their Class 10 exams were named due to an error in the online system while the students actually got just 50% to 60%.
July 4, 2016: Hundreds of students contacted the education department and said they did not get seats in their chosen preferred colleges after the 11th admission second merit list was announced, even though they had scored much higher than the college cut-offs
July 13-July 18, 2016: FYJC 11th Admission fourth merit list announced. Many students complained mostly of getting colleges far from home.
July 30-August 2, 2016: Students without claiming any seats provided to them previously were given another chance to confirm admissions.
August 8-August 30, 2016: Education department announced special rounds of merit list, which permitted students to change their seats or apply again for fyjc online admissions
